Having laid before my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty your letter of the 15th Instant, relative to the heavy
expenditure on Establishments at
James

on account of the events at Hongkong, and by their
desire I transmit the correspondence, for the information of the Secretary to the Admiralty,
that the Rear Admiral, Commanding in Chief, has been directed to
afford Governor Bonham every assistance that he may require in the proceedings.
